Dear Mackenzee,
First of all, we’d like to say “THANK YOU” for all the well wishes, offers of gifts and the concern for all of our well-being. I am completely overwhelmed at the out pouring of love from our amazing clients and community. So far, all of The Verve Girls are staying healthy, well fed and are in no danger of losing the roof over their heads. We are a strong team (more like family), and we’ll get through this as fast as we possibly can. We keep in contact with each other constantly with video chats and group messages, and miss each other so much! Again, thank you for your offers to help…the most significant thing you can do right now to support us is WAIT FOR US! We’re waiting for you too!
We miss all of you! As I’m calling everyone to cancel their appointments, I’m often brought to tears. Both good and scary tears. Its so good to hear your voices and hear that you all are staying healthy. We all promise to work tirelessly to get you all back in once this is over, and it is safe to do so. Wait for us, please! We can not wait to see you and get our hands in your hair again! A word of advice ( I get asked constantly), box color is very risky…and color corrections are insanely expensive because they take so much time, so many processes, and so much product. The most dangerous thing to stay away from is “Henna” hair color. Once you’ve done Henna, you can’t do an oxidative color over it (ours or anyone else’s) without a chemical reaction/melting of the hair. Just don’t do it. Hats and scarves are our best friends right now. I love seeing all the celebrities rocking their roots on social media. We’re all in the same boat! Root touch up powder can help you through it too. Just make sure it’s washed out BEFORE coming in for your color service, or we’ll have to shampoo and blow-dry before applying color, adding 30 minutes and an extra fee to your service. The hair color has trouble breaking through those root touch up powders/crayons, and we want to make sure there’s excellent coverage, right?
Now on to the bad news...Governor Witmer has required that we stay closed longer than we’d originally hoped. She is going to make an announcement some time this week, but at this moment in time, we don’t know when we’ll be able to re-open. President Trump says he’s extending the social distancing order until April 30, but it will ultimately be Governor Witmer’s decision. We also don’t know if there will be restrictions as to how many people can be in the building at the same time to keep everyone safe and healthy. With so much up in the air, we are just keeping a cancelation list for those of you who have been cancelled, which will inevitably be your place in line. Once we get a green light and have a plan in place for how many bodies we can book in the building at the same time, we will be calling you all individually with booking options. We may have to temporarily adjust our hours to accommodate more people, but again this is completely unknown at this time. I have disabled the online booking system through mid June to ensure that all of our clients who have been displaced during this crisis have priority seating to get back on the books ASAP, and we will be doing that manually through phone calls as we get a green light from the government and make a plan. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this insanely difficult time. A note to make sure your voicemail boxes are set up and not full! I can’t tell you how many people I can’t reach because I can’t leave a message!
As tough and scary as this is, we want to assure you that your health and safety are always priority at the very top of our list. When we do get to reopen, we will continue using products to clean the salon that have been proven effective against the Corona Virus until this virus is history. We have and will continue to be extremely diligent in wiping down surfaces and disinfecting our work spaces to keep you all safe. These products do go against our “clean air” policy, but we find that risk to be less risky than allowing this virus to live in our building. I know a lot of you come to Salon Verve specifically because of our “clean air policy.” If you have conditions like COPD or Asthma that are sensitive to bleach fumes, 91% isopropyl alcohol, and citric acid disinfectants, you may want to ask your stylist to open a window near you, and/or wear a filtration mask while visiting us. You are also welcome to wait a bit longer if you feel its appropriate to do so, for your health. We thank you for allowing us to make this exception to our “clean air policy.” We think it's a necessary exception. We also will still require everyone to wash their hands the moment they walk in the door. According to the CDC this has proven to be the best and most effective way to avoid the spread of the Corona Virus. We hope against hope that this will all be over soon, and we can resume business as usual.
Here’s something amazing: Our hair color distributor Simply Organic Beauty has set up an online shopping page so you can order all of your favorite Simply Organic, Original & Mineral, and Oway retail items from home and have it shipped to your door. Free shipping on orders $50 or more too, if you use our link. So, if you’re looking for ways to support us in these difficult times, thank you, and shop away with our link JoAnn still has to pay rent on the building, phone bill, alarm service, salon software subscription, heat, electricity, and more while being closed. So, Simply Organic Beauty is helping us out by giving us a commission on all sales made with our link. Click here for the online shopping page. It's also on our website for future reference (menu selection “online shopping”). If you want to chat with your stylist about which products to buy, they all have their own professional Facebook pages, where you can privately message them directly and they can steer you in the right direction. They also love to hear from you, if you just want to say “hi, hang in there…I’m waiting for you.” They miss you all terribly. Here’s a list of links to their pages. While you’re there, be sure to “like” their pages to “follow" along with their careers in the future. Jodie has even made videos on her page to keep in touch with her people. Click on their name to go to their page:
